It is popularly known that the saying “Open Sesame” granted the thieves entry into the their den in the 1001 Arabian Nights. But how many people know that the phrase 'open sesame' was chosen because when the seeds burst from the pod (when they ripen), the sound is similar to that of a lock being opened and the phrase is probably inspired by that fact.
